St Mary’s Church, Wedmore, 23rd Charities’ Fair 2024. On Saturday 2nd November, St Mary’s Church is hosting various charities to give them an opportunity to sell their Christmas cards, calendars and gifts. This year the Fair will be open from 10:00am to 12:30pm.
This is the 23rd Fair and over the years it has raised thousands of pounds for a wide range of charitable causes. Coffee and Cakes will be available to refresh you in between making your purchases, so come along and support your favourite charities.

Cheddar Vale Lions Club getting ready to jumble 

After a successful Jumble Sale in February 2024, the Club has decided to carry on with these sales as they are so well attended. The next Jumble Sale will be in the Village Hall on Saturday 26th October.   
We are looking for good condition and clean clothing, household items, small toys, etc.  Please do not just leave any items at the door, we need items that can be resold, particularly in these difficult times. There will be Lion members on the door to take your Items that can be delivered to the Hall on the day (no electrical items please) from 12 noon to 1:30pm, so they can be sorted ready for the opening at 2:00pm. There is an entrance fee of 50p. Refreshments will be available.

Axbridge Carers Group is part of CCS Somerset Carers Service. It is a free, informal gathering for people who regularly look after someone, maybe a friend, family member or loved one, in an unpaid capacity. We meet to socialise, share stories and ideas and to talk about our experiences. Professional speakers and service providers also visit to offer support and information. Isle of Wedmore Society

Isle of Wedmore Society – The October meeting will take place on Thursday 24th October at 7:30pm in the Wedmore Masonic Hall. Our speaker will be Sue Goodland (an Education Advisor for Bristol, Somerset & South Gloucestershire) with a talk entitled  ‘Life down the plughole/toilet.’ We will learn what happens to all that waste water when it arrives at our water recycling centres and how it it is turned into fertiliser, gas, electricity and bio fuel.

Local support for those with Parkinson’s

Have you been diagnosed with Parkinson’s? The NW Somerset Local Support Group of Parkinson’s UK meets on the second Saturday of each month at St Francis Church Hall, Nailsea, 10:30am – 12:15pm, for an informal coffee morning. There’s sometimes a speaker, occasionally musical entertainment or a quiz, and always time for a chat. On 12th October there will be a speaker giving advice about legal matters such as Power of Attorney.
